Resolute, United Stand against Attempt to Alter Talmud Torah Curriculum

Dozens of heads of talmudei Torah and exempt institutions gathered Sunday night in the home of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman shlita for an emergency meeting to discuss their concerns regarding a serious breach in the autonomy of Torah-true educational institutions for yaldei Yisroel. The meeting, led by the Rosh Yeshiva, was also attended by HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, HaRav Nissim Karelitz, HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, HaRav Boruch Dov Povarsky, the Admor of Belz, the Admor of Tzanz, and HaRav Yisroel Hager of Vishnitz shlita.


Twice as Many Chareidi Children in Bottom 5 Percentile in Height and Weight

The percentage of children whose height and/or weight is in the lowest percentile is twice as high in the chareidi sector as in Israel's general population, according to a survey conducted by Dr. Liz Rubin, director of the Health Ministry's Mother and Child Department. The findings were presented at a conference on the prevention and treatment of obesity held by the Union of Pediatricians and the Israel Dietetic Association (IDA).

Experts warn that Budapest, the capital of Hungary, has turned into a hothouse for antisemites. Far-right party Jobbik has become the third largest in the country. Jews are visibly scared, according to an article in Der Spiegel.


Hershey Friedman Buys Historic Arza Complex for NIS 150 Million

Hershey Friedman is expanding his investments in Israel. The chareidi businessman purchased the historic Arza complex at Motza, near Jerusalem, for NIS 150 million, with plans to build 218 housing units on the site, primarily garden apartments.


Degel HaTorah MKs Tour Ofakim's New Chareidi Neighborhood

Degel HaTorah MKs toured a new neighborhood for the chareidi community in Ofakim to see the potential the southern city has to offer for the large local chareidi kehilloh. The local Degel HaTorah branch, headed by Rabbi Avraham Deutsch, chairman of the Ofakim housing committee, hosted the MKs.
