Mass Funeral Procession for Sifrei Torah Burned in Vishnitz Shul

A funeral procession was held Thursday, Erev Rosh Chodesh Marcheshvan, for sifrei Torah that were burned in a fire in the large Vishnitz beis medrash in Bnei Brak. The tragedy took place when a fire broke on Motzei Yom Tov Succos, leaving Jews everywhere stunned. The funeral will set out from the beis medrash and proceed towards the Vishnitz section of the Bnei Brak cemetery.


Masterplan Approved for Kosel Area

After many years of planning and preparation, the local Building and Planning Committee approved a master plan for the Kosel Plaza. Since the area was first cleared in the aftermath of the Six Day War in 1967, no comprehensive plan of the area was undertaken. The new plan envisions 15 million visitors a year in the near future, and presents proposals to deal with this.


Plans for 2,100 Housing Units in New Beit Shemesh Neighborhoods Win Approval

The District Planning and Construction Committee for Jerusalem approved Tuesday the construction plan for the Gimmel-2 and Mem-3 neighborhoods in Beit Shemesh, which will contain 2,100 new residential units. The project consists of 1,800 units in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel and 300 in the Mem-3 neighborhood. Along with the 2,200 slated for construction in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel-1, currently in advanced phases of development, a total of 4,000 units will be built for the chareidi community in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel neighborhood.


Celcom Launches Work Center in Modi'in Illit

Continuing the drive to boost employment in Modi'in Illit, Celcom has launched a work center for the planning and setup of mobile and landline communications networks for business customers. The work center is located at the Kassem Commercial Center in Kiryat Sefer, where local women were hired through the Employment Department at the Mayor's Office.


HaRav Yehuda Muallem zt"l

On erev Shabbos parshas Bereishis, Yerushalayim lost one of its great talmidei chachomim and marbitzei Torah, HaRav Yehuda Muallem zt"l rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Porat Yosef, 89, who was marbitz Torah for some 70 years and raised several generations of talmidim. HaRav Muallem was a boki in all areas of Torah.


HaRav Aharon Goloventzitz zt"l

One of the yechidei segulah of Yerushalayim, HaRav Aharon Goloventzitz zt"l, was summoned to the Heavenly yeshiva on Hoshanah Rabbah. Known as a wonderful speaker, he was the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas HaRav Bengis, and the spiritual head of the seminary Bnos Elisheva.
