The Israeli Levaya of HaRav Chaim Stein zt"l

Thousands of bnei Torah, led by gedolei Yisroel shlita, laid to rest Friday afternoon in Jerusalem HaRav Chaim Stein zt"l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Telz in Cleveland, a member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of America and a leading marbitz Torah from the previous generation.

HaRav Shmuel Auerbach and HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel shlita headed a mournful levaya, including a large number of Bayit Vegan residents, held for HaRav Leib Heiman zt"l, a talmid muvhok of Maran HaRav Aharon Kotler zt"l and the rov of Beis Knesses HaGra in Bayit Vegan.

Dutch Shechitah Ban Stuns European Jewry

"I was shocked by the overwhelming majority that opponents of kosher shechitah managed to secure in the Dutch parliament," said HaRav Eliezer Wolff, the av beis din of Amsterdam, following the Dutch parliament's decision to ban shechitah and Muslim ritual slaughter in the Netherlands.


Germany Jews Angered by Sachsenhausen Admission Fee

The Jewish community in Germany is irate over plans by the management of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp site to start charging fees for entry and guided tours. According to a report in Der Spiegel, the move has drawn criticism from politicians and tour organizers as well.


Representatives of Seminaries Meet with MKs

Representatives of the girls' seminaries (high schools) met with all members of Knesset from United Torah Judaism to discuss the issues of preserving the purity of chareidi chinuch and preventing any admixture of outside influences. All five Knesset members of UTJ were there as well as various seminary principals selected to represent them all.
