New Sephardic Seminary to Open in Bnei Brak

By A. Cohen

A new Chanichei Hayeshivos seminary for Sephardic girls is slated to open at the start of the 5771 school year under the guidance of HaRav Mordechai Gross shlita, the Gavad of Chanichei Hayeshivos in Bnei Brak. The school will be headed by HaRav Yechiel Yonah.

According to a recent letter from HaRav Gross, "Following numerous inquiries from Sephardic Chanichei Hayeshivos congregations in our city regarding the need to start a Jewish seminary for Beis Yaakov and Chanichei Hayeshivos girls, efforts have been made to meet the growing demand to open a specialized seminary that befits them. As such, we welcome the opening in the 5771 school year of a place where, besiyata deShmaya, the students will continue to make strides, in accordance with Hashem's will, in every detail."

The letter also says, "HaRav HaGaon Yechiel Yonah shlita, who has acquired vast experience in the field of education, will head the seminary as principal. Under the leadership and supervision a panel of gedolei Torah shlita he will administer the seminary, with the lofty character and yiras Hashem needed to build up the purity and stature of bnos Yisroel in accordance with Jewish tradition."

Many have stepped forward to contribute to the successful opening of the seminary, and preparations are being made to open registration. The rabbinical committee will carefully oversee the enrollment process, taking pains to uphold the character of the seminary as a Chanichei Hayeshivos institution.

News of the planned opening of the seminary was hailed widely in light of the increasing demand for a new seminary for Sephardic girls.
