Letter from HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita About Verbal Abuse

The following letter was published — without any further comments — on the cover of the Musaf Shabbos Kodesh of the Yated Ne'eman, parshas Bolok, 5769.

It is well-known that in our holy Torah there are laws that relate to the relationship between a man and his Maker, and others that relate to the relationship between man and his fellowman. In the Ten Commandments there are laws that relate to the relationship between a man and his Maker and also restrictions on doing evil to his fellows.


UTJ Trying to Push Bill for Chinuch Atzmai Schools Through Before Knesset Break

The Knesset Education Committee gave approval on Monday to bring for a first Parliamentary reading a bill introduced by MKs Rabbi Moshe Gafni, Rabbi Uri Maklev and Rabbi Menachem Eliezer Mozes to have local councils cover the costs of electricity and water as well as secretarial, janitorial, cleaning and phone services for recognized-but-unofficial schools which means those run by Chinuch Atzmai and Maayan Hachinuch Hatorani.

Mrs. Sheina Meiselman o"h, a granddaughter of Maran HaRav Chaim Soloveitchik (the Brisker Rov) and the last living person who spent time in his presence, departed for the World to Come on Sunday, 13 Tammuz, at the age of 97.

Downtown Jerusalem Food Market to Be Shut for Violating Shabbos Law

The Jerusalem Municipality's Legal Bureau and Licensing Department prepared an administrative closure order this week for a downtown food market that stayed open on Shabbos. Once the order is signed by Mayor Nir Barkat, it will be immediately issued to the store owner for violating the Work and Rest Hours Law.

French Justice Minister Says Sentences for Halimi Accomplices Too Light

French Justice Minister Michele Alliot-Marie permitted the State Prosecutor's Office on Monday to file an appeal against the light sentences handed down to 15 gang members who took part in the torture and murder of Ilan Halimi Hy'd, a 23-year-old French Jew who was tortured for weeks in a basement and dumped at the roadside shortly before he died en route to the hospital two years ago.

Talmud Torah Principals to Meet in Jerusalem Next Week

Germany Drafts Law to Exonerate "Traitors" Against Nazi Rule

In another step by the coalition headed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel intended to makes amends for the crimes of the Third Reich, a historical piece of legislation is currently being drafted to clear the names of individuals the Nazis accused of treason during World War II. The law will be brought for a parliamentary vote before the elections expected to be held in September.
