Malam Expanding Employment in Beitar Illit

By Yechiel Sever

Maalot, a development and training center in Beitar Illit and a part of the Malam Group, is expanding. Twenty programmers from the city will participate in the next course, after which they will join the 30 women from Beitar already working at the company, which outsources software development and testing.

The Maalot Project, set up at the initiative of Beitar Mayor Rabbi Yitzchok Pindrus, who has been working in recent years to promote various high-tech enterprises and other employment centers for women at the Professional Center for Development and Employment in Beitar Illit, where hundreds of local women are employed. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Employment, the JDC and the City of Beitar Illit. Branches of several companies have been opened at the site, including the Malam Group, CityBook, EDS and FXEM.

The 20 women enrolled in the course will join .Net, Oracle and COBOL programmers currently working on the company's various development projects. The training program is being conducted by Reality, a training company recently acquired by Malam.

Atzmon Mins, vice president and director of offshore activity at Malam, says, "The women selected to participate in the training program are outstanding software engineers who passed meticulous screening and assessment tests. Malam management believes in this area of activity and is working to expand it, based on the recognition and belief that this is a success for all of the partners in the process."
