80% of Israelis Clean the House for Pesach

By M. Green

In preparation for the holiday Hamiktzoanim, which publishes a guide of select professionals, commissioned a survey of the public's pre-Pesach cleaning habits. Conducted by Motagim with a representative sample of 500 respondents, the survey revealed some interesting facts about the average Israeli's pre-Pesach house cleaning habits.

According to the survey 80 percent of Israelis clean the house for Pesach, of which 42 percent sell the chometz and 36 percent do hag'olas keilim. Only 14 percent prepare for Pesach but do no special cleaning.

Asked how many hours they devote to Pesach cleaning, 50 percent said they spend more than four days cleaning the house, 10.7 percent devote one day, 8.9 percent devote three days, 9.2 percent devote two days, 7.2 percent are unable to estimate, 9.6 percent devote half a day and 5.3 percent spend two or three hours cleaning.
