Bnei Brak-Elad Road to Open This Month

By S. Fried

Good news for Elad residents: Hwy. 471 via Maccabit, from Elad to Bnei Brak via the Bar-Ilan Interchange, will be open to traffic by Pesach the Israel National Road Company told MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, who has been following the issue closely.

Although the new highway is essentially ready for use, Elad residents and Bnei Brak residents with ties to Elad are still waiting for the opening of the highway, which promises to significantly cut travel time between Elad and Bnei Brak. The delay is due to various statutory issues (right of way). Now these problems have been resolved and the National Road Company can continue with the road work unhindered. MK Rabbi Gafni has issued several requests to open the road in its present state to allow it to be used in the meantime and now he has been promised Tzomet Zerubavel will be open to traffic this month, allowing direct access to the Bar-Ilan Interchange.
