HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel: Fridays and Shabbos are Times for Shteigen

By Betzalel Kahn

Following a call by gedolei Yisroel to strengthen Torah study on Fridays and Shabbos and the announcement of a new program for bnei yeshivos, dozens of yeshivas expressed an interest in having their students participate in the unique program.

A delegation representing Dirshu recently met with the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Mir, HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel, who offered his support and encouragement.

"I prepare my shiurim on Friday afternoons," the Rosh Yeshiva began. "It's a special time when one receives the neshomoh yeseiroh and learning then has great importance in acquiring the foundations of truth in our holy Torah. The week is made up of seven days, not five days and another two different and separate days. And since the week is comprised of seven days, every bochur who wants to achieve a true kinyan in the holy Torah must invest seven days, [delving] into the holy Torah each and every day, including Friday and Shabbos."
