Jerusalem Municipality Responsible for Sanitation at Kever Rochel

By Betzalel Kahn

With the security barrier around Jerusalem now complete, Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky announced that the municipality would consider Kever Rochel a part of Jerusalem and take responsibility for removing trash from the site.

The National Center for Holy Sites says that for years Kever Rochel has not been defined as a part of the municipal jurisdiction, which made clearing the rubbish a difficult task.

Following requests by various officials to Mayor Lupoliansky and Deputy Mayor Rabbi Uri Maklev and a tour of the site by Sanitation Department Director Tzion Shetreet, the municipality decided to start removing the trash and to provide trash containers as needed.
