MK Gafni Tables Three Proposals on First Day of Summer Session

By Eliezer Rauchberger

On Monday 19 Iyar, the first day of the summer session, MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni tabled three new bills.

One of the proposals would prohibit the state from denying former Gaza Strip residents uprooted from their homes benefits or compensation they are entitled to under the Disengagement Law simply because they already receive other support under other programs.

Another proposal would eliminate the need to file a new request for property tax discounts every year.

The third proposal would ban the distribution, sale and manufacture of dangerous toys. According to the bill, violators would face four years' imprisonment. Rabbi Gafni claims that because of the existing law's inadequacies every year we see children who are injured and harmed by dangerous toys, particularly around Purim.
