Daf Yomi Event on 15 Teves

by Betzalel Kahn

Preparations for a major event to encourage the study of the Daf Yomi and halochoh, scheduled to take place at Jerusalem's Binyanei Ha'Uma on 15 Teves to mark the completion of maseches Eruvin and the beginning of maseches Pesochim, are now stepping into high gear.

Dozens of ticket distributors around the country report increasing demand among Daf Yomi lomdim and maggidei shiurim. Although at first only the main hall was reserved, in response to the high demand for tickets organizers decided to rent adjacent halls as well, where the event will be screened live.

A delegation of Meoros HaDaf HaYomi rabbonim are currently conducting a round of visits at the homes of gedolei Torah and admorim to invite them to attend the event.

The program includes an orchestra conducted by R' Meir Adler, the renowned chazan R' Chaim Elozor Hershtik, a large boys' choir and the reading of a poem specially written by R' Moshe Weintraub.

A special hall with a completely separate entrance has also been set aside for the wives of the lomdim and maggidei shiurim to encourage them to continue to stand by their husbands, who leave home to take part in the Daf Yomi shiurim. The ladies' program includes a lecture by HaRav Shlomo Levenstein as well as the screening of a special presentation while the day's Daf Yomi shiur is given in the men's hall.

To insure that the event runs smoothly the organizing committee is finalizing arrangements for parking, ushering, special entrances for gedolei Yisroel, security, coordination with police and first aid.
