Parents Object to Meitzav Exam

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Parents continued to stream to Vaadas HaRabbonim LeInyonei Chinuch founded by Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita, seeking answers to numerous problems and to resist the persistent efforts of the Education Ministry to interfere with chareidi education.

The parents are asking the Vaadas HaRabbonim to cancel the Meitzav exam scheduled to take place this week and next week at some chareidi schools. Parents claim that after generations of mesirus nefesh to instill children with the understanding Torah and yiras Shomayim should be the focus of their studies, the Education Ministry, by cutting off funding for chareidi schools, cannot be allowed to send the message that secular studies are of greater importance.

Maran HaRav Y. Z. Halevi Soloveitchik zt"l was known to have described Bais Yaakov schools as aiming to provide an ideal chinuch, uncompromised.

Hundreds of parents gave notice they would not allow their daughters to take the tests and the members of Vaadas HaRabbonim are scheduled to convene a meeting following consultations with maranan verabonon shlita.
