Sometimes
Venahapoch Hu. A topsy turvy world, as seen by Nechama Emmett

Have you ever watched small children playing? Have you noticed how sometimes they stand with their heads down between their legs? Looks strange, I know, but the world is so upside down, anyway, that I wonder if those kids don't have the right idea. Observing all the funny little things will do as the blood rushes to their heads.

Everything would be different. Would it be terrible? Dreadful? Or would it straighten everything out? Would it be funny? Maybe scary?

Sometimes, for me, things seem so messed up that I think if we did turn everything on its head, life would become easier to understand. Or would things be all the more blurred and confusing?

Would I get a headache if I played as the children do? In truth, the way the world is now, it can give me a headache, anyway.

I wonder what we'd all look like walking around with our heads down there. Silly? Don't we all look a bit silly just the way we are? At least sometimes...

For sure, we would look different. Would that be good or bad?

You know, I think it would be just the same as it is normally. Things could be tolerable, excellent or absolutely awful. It would just depend on our attitude.

Someone could find something they'd lost; someone could lose something they'd found.

Really, the only way to understand anything, the only real way to have any idea of what's going on is not to look up or down or between our legs, but in our hearts.

All answers can be found, all decisions decided, if only we would realize that however we look at the world, Hashem is the One ultimately deciding how it all looks.
