Gaza Mosque Welcomes London Attacks

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

In a reaction similar to the reaction in Palestinian areas to the 9/11 attacks in New York, the London terror attacks were welcomed within the Palestinian territories, according to a report in Yediot Acharonot.

The Gaza based Sut Al Quds radio station, which identifies itself with Palestinian Islamic Jihad, praised the London terrorist atrocities in a live broadcast on Saturday evening, two days after the attack.

The radio station was broadcasting a sermon in which a Moslem preacher was inciting listeners against Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The preacher criticized Israel's planned Gaza withdrawal, saying that Jerusalem was not part of the area to be withdrawn from. Also Osama Bin Laden was praised.

The preacher specifically welcomed the "blessed acts" that took place recently in Iraq and Britain, and highlighted their proximity to the selection of London as the host of the 2012 Olympic games. "The sounds of happiness were heard in London, and Osama Bin Laden came and redrew the map. He made sure that the voice of the surrendered will be heard in every place," the preacher said.

The sermon was translated by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, which emphasized that mosques under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority routinely incite to murder, and there is no effective supervision by the Authority.

The Palestinian Authority has repeatedly undertaken to end incitement against Israel and Jews.
