Public prayers for the recovery of HaRav Moshe Shmuel
Shapira, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Be'er Yaakov, have been
held in Torah halls around the country following
announcements last week that his health was failing.
Early Friday morning his condition deteriorated and based on
the advice of his doctors, including Dr. Yosef Kleiman of
Bikur Cholim Hospital, he was flown to Zurich for emergency
surgery performed by Professor Schneider that same day.
On Motzei Shabbos tefilloh and his'orerus
gatherings were held in yeshivas and other Torah halls around
the country, with thousands of his talmidim
participating. HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman and HaRav Chaim
Kanievsky were on hand at Beis Knesses Lederman in Bnei Brak
where a prayer gathering was held during which HaRav Moshe
Dovid Lefkowitz spoke. HaRav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi
addressed a similar gathering held at Beis Knesses Ahavas
Torah in Jerusalem.
Gedolei Yisroel publicized an announcement calling on
the public to arouse rachamei Shomayim for the
recuperation of HaRav Moshe Shmuel ben Minna Golda besoch
she'ar cholei Yisroel.
Based on directives by maranan verabonon special
prayers were also said at talmudei Torah and Beis
Yaakov schools.
