Yeshivas Givat Shaul Named After HaRav Wolbe, zt"l

by Betzalel Kahn

As the Shloshim for the Mashgiach, HaRav Shlomo Wolbe, who had the merit of learning Torah from HaRav Yeruchom of Yeshivas Mir, came to an end Tuesday night, a central chizuk and his'orerus gathering was held at the former Yeshivas Givat Shaul, which now bears the name Mishkenot Yedidiah after the Mashgiach, zt"l.

The name was chosen since Shlomo Hamelech was called "Yedidiah" (" . . . vayikro shemo Yedidiah ba'avur Hashem.") and Shlomo Hamelech built the Beis Hamikdosh which is called Yedid.

Among the speakers were HaRav Eliakim Getzil Pashkes, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Givat Shaul, HaRav Dov Yaffeh, menahel ruchani of Yeshivas Knesses Chizkiyohu in Rechasim, HaRav Dovid Cohen, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron and a student of the Mashgiach in the Kollel Beis Hamussar, and HaRav Yechiel Bamberger, the son-in-law of the Mashgiach ylct"a and the rov of the chareidi kehilloh in Haifa. HaRav Mendelson, the mashgiach of the yeshiva, also spoke. The speeches were broadcast by loudspeakers set up in the courtyard of the yeshiva in Jerusalem's Givat Moshe neighborhood.
