Keep Smiling

Short inspirational pieces by Avrohom Tzvi Schwartz, Kiryat Sefer, author of A Handful of Light, Hearts on Fire and other works on Mussar and Hashkofa

Traveling Light

The `family of man" is a real idea. And the loving father of that family is Hashem.

How much do we use this thought in our daily living? In how many different ways do we apply it? One area we should use this is with our finances. We should employ it to cut worry and anxiety from our lives.

"Hashem is supremely wealthy," we may say. "`Mine is the silver and Mine is the gold,' says Hashem."

And since Hashem is our Father, and since He loves us, and since all the world's wealth is His -- can it matter if we have a thousand more, or a thousand less? Even if we lose a fortune in a day, surely this is nothing against our Father's wealth. Surely, He can return it to us in a second.

On the other hand, if He does not enrich us, can we not see this as being for our benefit -- that we may travel lighter, that we may travel further, that we may gain special lessons and special treasures from our deficiency.

Then, when we learn the lesson He wants us to learn, and live as He wants us to live, He may just enrich us -- many times over.
