Makava Conference in Hungary
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

On the 17th of Sivan, the International Conference of the Makava community will take place in the city of Makava, Hungary. On the occasion of the 60th year since the passing of the famous tzaddik and Rebbe, Reb Moshe Vorhand zt'l, author of the Ohel Moshe, an International Conference of his descendants and talmidim from all corners of the world will be held, under the leadership of the current Makava Rebbe.

This past year, the construction of the new ohel on the Rebbe's gravesite in the ancient cemetery in the city of Makava in Southern Hungary was completed. The Chairman of the International Committee of Makava, Rabbi David Margalit, related that preparations are being completed for the grand gathering that will take place on the 60th yahrtzeit in the beis medrash that was renovated and restored by the International Committee, after its chanukas habayis in 5762.

This past year, two seforim of the Ohel Moshe of Makava zy'a were published. He was one of the great rabbonim and rosh yeshivas in the generation before the Holocaust.

The first sefer that was published is Ohel Moshe -- Nisu'in, with chidushim and explanations on eirusin, nisu'in, kedushas habayis and other topics. The second sefer -- Haggodoh shel Pesach-Ohel Moshe -- includes chidushim on maseches Pesochim, and shiurim that were delivered to yeshiva bochurim a hundred years ago.

The seforim that were published are the first in a series of his seforim that are to be published this coming year with chidushim on masechtos Chulin, Kiddushin, Gittin and others by the Nachlas Moshe Institute for the Publication of our Rabbis' Seforim.

During their meetings in the past month, the Municipality of Makava and the heads of the International Conference have concluded all of the technical arrangements to absorb the masses who will arrive from all corners of the world, and have arranged for the local police to reinforce security measures there.

Special flights will leave Israel, the U.S.A., England and Belgium for Budapest, to bring participants.
