Against an Upcoming "Chassidic Pop" Concert in London

Translation of the letter from the Rabbis of London:

Since a Concert is being planned to take place soon in our city, that is a means to break down the tznius and purity of our community, and the Gedolei Hador have seen that this brings a foreign culture into the tents of Yaakov, and have expressed strong opposition to this, and have forbidden to participate in these concerts. Therefore we join in their proclamation, and all those who care for their souls must stay far away from this and ensure that the members of their families do not go to these places. And all those who listen to us will be guarded from all danger.

BUG UPDATE, SIVAN 5764
by Devorah Plaut

1. Onions

The Israeli-grown onions continue to be problematic, even though the peel is starting to grow up over the top of the layers. In an experiment conducted by the Badatz a couple of weeks ago, the majority of these onions were found to harbor thrips. For now, your best bet is the Gush Katif onions, which do not have to be checked at all, or the imported onions, whose first and outside-of-the-second layers should be washed or checked. Regular Israeli-grown onions must still be cleaned or checked layer by layer.

OPINION & COMMENT

True Mercy Living

Kindness and mercy are always in favor. To help those in need, to champion the cause of those who cannot speak for themselves -- these are always actions that evoke an approving reaction from those who hear about them.

OBSERVATIONS

HOME & FAMILY

On Duty
by M. Weinman

The recent finds should hardly surprise us as we ourselves have made an avoda zora out of our sheitlach. We worship the absolute, flawless, ultimate look, and we sacrifice to that end nearly all that we have.
