REMEMBRANCE
Papa Sells Trout - Papa Travels to Berlin - The Babje's `Curse'

by Anni Rephun Fruchter

Papa's favorite customers were the minor nobility and some princes. There was a time when Germany was home to dozens of kings, princes, barons. You could not go far in any direction without coming across a castle. Since he spoke a flawless German, Papa moved easily among the aristocracy. It was a satisfaction to him that they knew and respected him as an observant Jew who kept his cap or hat on in their presence.

Over-the-Counter Encounters
by Chana Leah Goldman

Not far from our neighborhood is an American-styled drugstore -- supersized with large roomy aisles, wide enough for two- way stroller traffic, well stocked pharmaceuticals, wonderfully cool air conditioning, and an amazing selection of soaps, vitamins, toothpastes. You get the picture.

POET'S CORNER

Worry
by Ruth Lewis

If there's no money
If there's no strength
Not to worry.
It's all from Him.
The One Above sends
What we need.

If people shout
Or give us stares.
Who cares?
It's all from Him.
The One Above sends
What we need.

But if one tiny drop of pride
Will seep into our heart, inside--
All's lost.
Then we must scream and cry and shout
until it's out.
