by Aryeh Zissman

Rabbonim and public figures are voicing criticism and opposition to the Cabinet's decision on Sunday to allow some 20,000 Falashmura to immigrate from Ethiopia within a short period of time. A special ministerial committee headed by Interior Minister Eli Yishai and including the Ministers of Education, Housing, Finance and Immigration Absorption--as well as a representative from the Jewish Agency--will oversee the program's implementation.

Guide to Arranging a Heter Iska
by Y. Leiner

When people go to the bank they often regard the heter iska hanging on the wall as a sort of kashrus certificate that does not affect them directly. Even those who have some knowledge of what a heter iska represents, may not realize that if they do not understand what a particular heter iska seeks to communicate, that "heter" may be invalid for them; in fact they may even come to transgress prohibitions against ribis in their banking transactions.

Very Violent Days: Israel attacks Hamas targets in Gaza
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

As part of the IDF's new offensive against the Hamas, elite troops raided a village south of Hebron overnight Tuesday, shooting dead Hamas terrorist Muhammad Muhr. The soldiers surrounded a house in which Muhr was hiding, calling on Muhr to surrender. When he refused, they opened fire on the house, killing him. His death brings to eight the number of Hamas terrorists killed in the past three days, however six of the deaths were apparently self-caused by a "work accident."

OPINION & COMMENT

Belgium Should Judge Itself

Belgium has decided that it can judge anyone who may have committed a crime, anywhere in the world. If anyone feels that anyone else in the world committed some sort of crime against humanity, then he can turn to the Belgian courts and ask for justice. This is because the Belgian state has declared that its courts have universal jurisdiction to judge anyone in the world, regardless of where the crime was committed.
