Trans-Israel Highway Contractors Desecrate Ancient Graves

Despite explicit pledges by representatives of the Trans- Israel company, the Ministry of Transportation and the Antiquities Authority to halt damage and destruction of ancient graves recently discovered along the planned route for the Trans-Israel Highway, last week workers continued with devastating excavations. Police brutally arrested dozens of chareidim who came to protest the disturbing desecration.

Ramat Shlomo Slated for Expansion

The Israel Land Authority has authorized Moriah Construction to execute a large-scale plan for the expansion and densification of Jerusalem's Ramat Shlomo neighborhood through the addition of a total of 800 residential units and a broad sweep of public areas and educational facilities.

In many ways it was a very different Agudath Israel of America convention. In others, it was a very familiar one.

The location was new: the Stamford Westin Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut. And the timing, too: As the result of Chanukah falling at the end of November this year, the convention took place several weeks later in the Gregorian calendar than usual.

A very moving and uplifting event was celebrated last week in Kiryat Sefer at the dedication of the new "Chanichei Yeshivas Kol Torah Beis Medrash" with the participation of the Rosh Hayeshiva, rabbonim of Kol Torah and its alumni.
