Rotation Agreement Honored in Petach Tikvah City Council
by A. Cohen

The UTJ representative in the Petach Tikvah City Council has honored a rotation agreement signed between Degel HaTorah and Agudas Yisroel on the eve of the last municipal elections. Agudas Yisroel's representative, Rabbi Yosef Altman, who served in the first half of the Council's term of office, vacated his seat in favor of Degel HaTorah representative Rabbi Uri Kaminsky.

A similar rotation took place in Haifa recently. Activation of the rotation agreement was praised by city council members both in Haifa and Petach Tikvah. All commended the political integrity of the UTJ representatives as befitting Torah-observant activists.

The rotation ceremony was a kiddush Hashem. At the end of the meeting, all of the council members shook Rabbi Altman's hand and lauded him for his efforts on behalf of the chareidi sector in Petach Tikvah.

Mayor Yitzhak Ohayon congratulated the new Degel HaTorah representative, Rabbi Uri Kaminsky, and wished him much success. He also praised Rabbi Altman for his many efforts on behalf of all residents of the city.

Rabbi Altman thanked all the City Council members, especially the mayor. He closed by noting that the residents of Petach Tikvah were saved from the recent terrorist attacks in the city on the merit of Mayor Ohayon's support of lomdei haTorah, manifested by an increase in subsidies to the kollelim.

The new representative, Rabbi Kaminsky, is one of the outstanding communal activists of Petach Tikvah, and is well known for his willingness to grant assistance to all who seek it.
