In Jerusalem one of the neki'ei da'as, HaRav Isomor Beckerman zt"l, known for many years as "the tzaddik," do to his behavior and his unique kindly and warm way of treating others, passed away.

Reb Isomor was born in Lublin nearly eighty years ago. His father, Reb Chaim Tzvi Beckerman Hy'd was a prominent Sokolover Chossid, and was very close to his mentor, HaRav Yitzchok Zelig Morgenstern, the Admor of Sokolov. His father was a trusted attendant in the home of the famous gaon, HaRav Eliyahu Kletzkin, the av beis din of Lublin. Reb Isomor was also very close to Maharam Shapiro the av beis din of Lublin and rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, who showered him with fatherly love. He was a descendant of HaRav Isomor of Konskaveli, author of Mishmeres Isomor.

When Reb Isomor was young, he came to Eretz Yisroel alone. His entire family perished in the Nazi inferno. He married the daughter of HaRav Benzion Pollack, a prominent Karliner Chossid from Yerushalayim and a descendant of HaRav Yonoson Eibeshitz and the Oheiv Yisroel of Apta.

His funeral on motzei Shabbos parshas Mikeitz, was attended by hundreds of Yerushalayim's residents, who bemoaned the great loss.

He is survived by outstanding sons, among them HaRav Shimon Beckerman, HaRav Menachem Shlomo Beckerman, the head of the Tchechenov institutions of Yerushalayim, and HaRav Moshe Beckerman. His sons-in-law include HaRav Dov Wolf, HaRav Eliezer Koenig and HaRav Binyomin Cheshin. He also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom are following in the footsteps of Torah and Chassidus.
