HaRav Yosef Tzvi Dunner, the Raavad of the Union, Visits Eretz Yisroel

by A. Cohen

Last week, HaRav Yosef Tzvi Dunner, the raavad of Hisachdus Kehillos Hachareidim in England and the president of European Agudas Yisroel, arrived in Eretz Yisroel.

The purpose of the visit of HaRav Dunner, who is one of the most prominent leaders of chareidi Jewry abroad, is to supervise the baking of Pesach matzos for the chareidi community of England.

The Raavad was accompanied by his son, the dayan, HaRav Aharon Dovid, who is also the rav of the Adas Yisroel community of Tottenham and who helped his father in the supervision of the baking of the matzos.

For over thirty years, the HaRav Dunner has been coming to Eretz Yisroel to supervise the baking of the matzos for the Jews of England. This year, over 15 tons of matzos will be baked under the Kedassia hechsher.

HaRav Yosef Tzvi Dunner is considered one of the greatest experts in the world in the field of kashrus due to the vast experience he has acquired over a fifty year period as head of the kashrus committee of Kedassia, which has earned the confidence of all streams of chareidi Jewry.

Throughout his brief visit, he met with the gedolei haTorah vehahoro'oh.

Last Thursday night (19 Adar) he met with Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv, and spoke with him about issues of importance in Eretz Yisroel and England.
