Bones in Basement of Hadassah Await Final Resting Place

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

A solution has yet to be found for the problem of the hundreds of crates of human bones discovered in the basement of the Jerusalem Hadassah Ein Karem School of Dentistry.

On 8 Tammuz, the Federation for the Prevention of the Desecration of Graves reported that the cellar still contains 200 crates full of ancient bones yet to be brought to burial. As a result, kohanim are still forbidden to enter the building.

Federation heads have issued a heartfelt appeal to anyone capable of acting on behalf of these meisei mitzvah to do anything within their means to rectify the situation. "All of the bones which have been discovered came from archaeological excavations which took place twenty years ago! The bones were maintained in a disgraceful manner all those years, serving as material for various tests by students and researchers. Now the time has come to bring them to their eternal rest in an honorable manner so that they may repose in peace and tranquillity until the coming of the Moshiach," they noted.

The Federation has also asked that anyone travelling throughout the country be on the alert at every suspicious site and report every archaeological excavation taking place in any location. To report any findings, contact 050- 206035 or 052-638833.
