Resurrection

You won't believe this. But then again, maybe you will.

I walk home from the old city of Zefat down the staircase. The yellow daffodils breathe rhythmically throughout the hilldside. The fresh spring grasses wave their overgrown tips all the way down to the cemetery. The graves are surrounded by dry, hot earth with an occasional large bourgeoning tree guarding the holy site...

One summer day in 1980, Dr. Bob Friedman and his son Andrew buckled their seatbelts on an El Al flight to Israel. The excitement of a transcontinental flight showed on Andy's face. His father, a frequent international flyer, sat calmly reading the New York Times.

The handsome, 624 page book with its intriguing title was delivered to me, to be passed on to our Book Reviewer, Judith Weil. The bottom third of the black-and-white slipjacket presented Jerusalem in photorealism, with two thirds showing a stormy sky through which a beam of real light was filtering slantwise through a black cloud with a silver lining.


Do It Yourself -- With Yosef Krinsky

One of the most common questions I am asked is, "Where did you find this out?" Or, "How did you know how to do this?"

Well, I started in the Do It Yourself business at a rather young age. My grandfather, Murray Krinsky (of blessed memory), introduced me to painting at the age of 6. He was a master painter, and at the time was hired to paint the Museum of Natural History in New York.

Prevention of Stammering

Worried parents initially go to their doctor, who frequently tries to reassure them that the child "will grow out of it," and "not to worry."
