Communal Administration of Jerusalem Chareidi Neighborhoods Backed By the City's Roshei Yeshiva

by Betzalel Kahn

Yerushalayim's most prominent roshei yeshiva recently expressed their support for the Communal Administration of the Chareidi Neighborhoods in Jerusalem, due to its outstanding activity in the areas of welfare and health.

The organization is active in various areas such as welfare and assistance to large families -- in particular women after childbirth. The government would have to supply these services if it were not for the efficient functioning of these bodies.

In their letter, the roshei yeshiva said: "We have come to bless, strengthen and encourage the heads of the Communal Administration of the Chareidi Neighborhoods in Jerusalem, who are performing meleches kodesh on behalf of the residents of Ir Hakodesh by means of their well known medical and chessed organizations, which need no introduction. The medical organization, Verapo Yirapeh and the welfare activities of Mercaz Le'ezra Lazulat ease the plights of those in need of such services. May HaKodosh Boruch Hu repay the organizations' volunteers for their efforts."

The letter is signed by the rabbonim: HaRav Pinchos Scheinberg, rosh yeshiva of Torah Ohr; HaRav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi, rosh yeshiva of Ateres Yisroel; HaRav Yitzchok Ezrachi, one of the roshei yeshiva of Mir; HaRav Yisroel Grossman, rav and moreh tzeddek in Yerushalayim; HaRav Eliyahu Abba-Shaul, one of the roshei yeshiva of Porat Yosef; HaRav Ephraim Fischel Rabinowitz, rosh yeshiva of the Ruzhiner yeshiva.
